The Glenlivet 18 Year Single Malt Scotch

5/5 Stars/Highest Recommendation, Spirit Journal
Deep cinnamon/ginger color; unblemished purity. This hearty opening aroma is animated, pleasingly grainy/malty, fruity (dates, prunes), floral (honeysuckle), medium dry and even a touch baked (caramelized); second inhalations bring out bread pudding, dark honey, cocoa butter, chocolate fudge, cake frosting. Entry explodes on the tongue with swashbuckling flavors of cinnamon, clove, vanilla bean, treacle, buttercream, high cocoa content dark chocolate; midpalate mirrors the entry to a tee, adding barley malt biscuits, butterscotch, baked pineapple, bacon fat, rancio. Finishes gloriously rich, honey sweet but not cloying. Deserves a boost of one rating star to the highest level. Batten down the hatches for this one.
