Brewer's Notes: With deep black color, a thick, creamy head, rich chocolate, toffee and coffee flavors, and full-bodied smoothness, Anchor Porter® is the epitome of a handcrafted dark beer.

A blend of specially roasted pale, caramel, chocolate, and black malts, along with our top-fermenting yeast, creates complexity without bitterness. The brew is hopped at a high rate, and naturally carbonated. The result is dark in the glass, but surprisingly light on the palate.

Anchor Porter® became the first modern American porter style beer when it was introduced in 1972. Over 40 years later, our porter continues to reward those who look beyond its intimidating appearance to discover its smooth, full-bodied drinkability. Anchor Porter® is the definitive American Porter.

Brewer's Notes: This English style of beer, also known as Sweet Stout or Cream Stout, first appeared in London in the late 1800’s. The early brewers touted the health benefits of the milk sugar in this beer which today relates mainly to the increased amount of calories (no real health benefits…sorry). The milk sugar adds a well rounded sweetness to this dark beer and makes it an outstanding, year ‘round stout.

Ten FIDY (10.5% ABV) is made with enormous amounts of two-row malt, chocolate malt, roasted barley, flaked oats and hops. Ten FIDY is the ultimate celebration of dark malts and boundary-stretching beer.

    Highland Oatmeal Porter

    $9.99

    Asheville, North Carolina

    87 Points, Beer Advocate
Brewer's Notes: A unique Highland creation, this robust beer is black in color, very malty with hints of chocolate-roasted flavor and a well balanced hop character.

This style was born on the docks of the Thames of London where dock workers or porters delighted in the strong dark ales brewed by the local pubs with roasted malts. This gave rise to the name by which this style is still known. A porter was traditionally served with oysters, the least expensive food available to the dock workers. Highland Brewing has taken this style a step farther with the addition of a judicious amount of flaked oatmeal which helps attain the smooth silky character of our porter.

Innis & Gunn, founded in 2003 and based in Edinburgh, Scotland, makes a number of aged, limited edition ales in addition to their Original, Blonde and Rum Cask. Their limited edition Irish Whiskey Cask, as its name implies, is a rich Scottish stout matured in barrels that formerly contained triple-distilled Irish whiskey. It represents an ironic reversal of the process that gave birth to Innis & Gunn Original. While we do not detect any whiskey flavors in this aged brew, we do taste a whiskey-like bitterness on the long finish. At 7.4 per cent ABV, Irish Whiskey Cask makes for an excellent sipping beer and is almost a meal in itself.

    Guinness Extra Stout 6pk

    $7.59

    Dublin, Ireland

    Brewer's Notes
As deep as Guinness Extra Stout's color is its taste. Crisp barley cuts through hops. A bite draws you in, bold flavors linger. Bitter marries sweet. A rich, refreshing taste. Brewed with skill. Built to last.

    Did You Know?
Guinness was one of the first brewers to print and supply labels to its bottlers to ensure publicans couldn't mix various stouts together and try to pass them off as Guinness. Those who sold other stouts were not entitled to carry the standard Guinness label, and instead had to apply to the brewery for their own unique labels, which would then bear their name and address.

This continued until 1862, when the famous buff Guinness trademark label was first introduced. The design has gone through many permutations over the years, but to this day all our labels are marked by three devices: Arthur's signature, our legendary harp symbol and a name now known the world over: Guinness.

Because lactose is unfermentable by brewer's yeast, it remains in the beer. The subtle sweetness and fullness of flavor imparted by this sugar balances the sharpness of the highly roasted grains that give this delicious beer its black color. All year long, Milk Stout is our number one selling beer! 7.5%ABV
