Flavors of strawberry preserves, cherry cola, and milk chocolate follow through to a smooth, fruit-forward, lingering finish. Delicious paired with a broad range of foods from barbecued chicken and caprese salad to take-out Chinese.

91+ Points, Robert Parker: The 2015 Malbec is very floral and bright mixing grapes from different zones in Mendoza, showcasing the grape in the province. The palate is very elegant, soft, with a fresh note that they tell me might come from some 5% Merlot from Tupungato that is used in the blend. Super!

    Argentina | 85% Malbec, 10% Tannat, 5% Syrah

91 Points, Robert Parker: There is a smoky character that I believe comes from the skin of the grapes, which have a high impact from the sun—as with the higher altitude, the rays are much stronger and make grapes develop thicker skins. It made me think of a red from the Northern Rhône, mixing violets, bacon fat and great spiciness. They have replaced Cabernet by Tannat, and I think it has helped remove the herbal aromas and given more character to the blend. The palate is medium-bodied with great freshness and intensity, terribly tasty. This is so easy to drink, it can be dangerous... One to buy by the case, and great for by-the-glass.

"Wow” is the first word that comes to mind when tasting this superconcentrated and immensely fruity wine. It practically overwhelms the nose and the palate with ripe, jammy boysenberry and blackberry, sprinkled with licorice and black-pepper nuances that add attractive complexity. It's a big wine all the way, but not extreme in alcohol.

    95 Points/#3 - Top 100 of 2016, Wine Spectator:

The first vintage was 1991, and Beaux Freres soon became an Oregon standard-bearer. As the early opulent style gradually achieved more elegance and transparency, the wines continued to earn outstanding and classic ratings. The 2014 brims with rich fruit and floral flavors that present themselves in layers, coming together into a supple, expressive balance.

The palate entry shows flavors of cranberry, fresh raspberry, and ripe cherry, complemented by hints of vanilla and baking spice. A balance of savory, cedar and cocoa powder on one side, and sweet, fig jam and ripe blackberry on the other, round out the mouth-feel. California

91 Points, Habersham Tasting Panel; Gold Medal, Critic's Challenge Wine Competition 2016 | Winemaker's Notes: the sentiment at Bonny Doon Vineyard is that if we ever were to drink a cabernet-based blend, this would be one that would serve quite well. It is lean, neither overly alcoholic (weighing in at 13.2%) nor overly extracted, nor overly oakèd; it is precisely what one would imagine A Proper Claret to be. The wine contains a substantial dollop of petit verdot (22%), adding a silky note of violets and textural elegance, in counterpoint to the lead-in-the-pencil firmness offered by the inclusion of the virile tannat (22%). Tannat, the grape implicated in the French paradox (and the vinifera variety with resveratrol levels that are off the charts), is principally grown in Gascony (land of Les Trois Mousquetaires), though it was historically grown as well in Bordeaux as late as the 19th century. Comparing this wine with the 2013 APC, the second vintage, the ’14 version is a bit plusher and posher, with softer tannins, not unreminiscent of the overstuffed chair at one’s Club. There is still a lovely minty, cedary aspect to this wine, reflective of its perfect balance, with nary a prunish note to be found.

Delicate hints of cedar, smoke, and bay leaf cut the sweetness of the fruit, creating a nicely balanced bouquet. That luscious fruit bouquet continues onto the palate, where it’s joined by soft flavors of wood and cured meat, like bacon. Recommended by Matt, Wine Lead @Habersham St.

90-92 Points, Robert Parker: A step up, the 2012 Chateauneuf du Pape Secret de Leonce, which was formerly known as their Vieilles Vignes and is now named after Laurent’s Grandfather, is a blend of 85% Grenache, 10% Syrah and 5% Mourvedre that was aged all in barrel. Coming all from the Bois Dauphin and Sainte Vierge terroirs, it displays serious amounts of black fruits, wild herbs, olive and licorice as well as a medium to full-bodied, seamless and elegant profile on the palate. Finesse is the name of the game here, yet it doesn’t lack for concentration or richness either. Enjoy it over the coming decade or more. Drink now-2023.

Supple, sexy, seamless and elegant, with classic Calera notes of raspberries, mulled cherries, spice and dried soil, it has no hard edges, a core of sweet fruit and a beautiful finish that keeps you coming back to the glass. Recommended by James, Product Research; 94 Points, Robert Parker: The 2012 Malbec Jamilla's Vineyard is a subtle Malbec from a vineyard in Perdriel. It is a little closed and is a wine you need to coax. It has a mineral profile, and ends very tasty with that tactile feeling akin to licking stones that leaves a somewhat salty sensation. The nose is very subtle, a little shy, and slowly opens up and reveals a serious, dare I say mineral, stony profile, where the nose takes you to the gravels found on the soils. Lovely Perdriel, more about the place than the grape.

Winemaker's Notes: The only thing better than the perfect richness of braised short rib is the heavenly rush that comes when you follow it with a sip of Dark Horse Merlot. With big fruit and a long, plush finish, our Merlot unlocks new flavor levels in everything from red meats to stuffed mushrooms. It's a reminder of why the world first fell in love with Merlot way back when.
