"Wow” is the first word that comes to mind when tasting this superconcentrated and immensely fruity wine. It practically overwhelms the nose and the palate with ripe, jammy boysenberry and blackberry, sprinkled with licorice and black-pepper nuances that add attractive complexity. It's a big wine all the way, but not extreme in alcohol.
Winemaker's Notes: Carefully selected parcels of Shiraz, Grenache and Malbec were picked in the cool light of a new dawn when perfectly ripe, the grapes were crushed and destemmed prior to fermentation under temperature controlled conditions to preserve their vibrant colours and fl avours. Each base wine was assessed and then unfiltered with the skill of a true artisan to create a luscious berry driven palate that is intriguing and truly indulgent. A heady blend that sings with vibrancy and finishes with a dark, earthy swoon.
Cabernet Sauvignon, Merlot, Petit Verdot, Malbec, & Cabernet Franc
Aged 16 months in French oak, 40% new
94 Points, Robert Parker:
The 2014 Bordeaux Proprietary Blend Papillion (15,748 cases) was aged 16 months in 40% new French oak. Fairly priced for what the consumer gets, this blend of Cabernet Sauvignon, Merlot, Petit Verdot, Malbec and Cabernet Franc (15.1% alcohol) exhibits notes of forest floor, graphite, blackcurrant, blackberry fruit and spring flowers followed by a full-bodied, unctuously textured, deep, rich pure wine to drink over the next 10-15+ years.
California | Syrah • Merlot • Petite Sirah • Zinfandel • Cabernet • Malbec • Grenache
90 Points, Habersham Tasting Panel
Winemaker's Notes: Our red blend opens with aromas of chocolate-covered cherries, baking spices, and vanilla bean. Flavors of strawberry preserves, cherry cola, and milk chocolate follow through to a smooth, fruit-forward, lingering finish. Delicious paired with a broad range of foods from barbecued chicken and caprese salad to take-out Chinese.
...a hint of maturity already, with smoldering tobacco and singed mesquite notes leading the way for a core of lightly steeped plum and red currant fruit. Picks up tension through the finish, showing a good chalky underpinning. Finishes with an echo of dried bay.
Lodi, California | 71% Syrah, 25% Petite Sirah 4% Souzao
92 Points, Editor's Choice, Wine Enthusiast:
Dark, dense with fruit avor and thickly tannic, this full-bodied wine is a monument to concentration, ripeness and richness. Massive tannins are matched by huge jammy fruit, with a sense of layering and depth that is impressive and satisfying to experience.
Gold Medal, San Francisco Chronicle Wine Competition
Winemaker's Notes: Aromas of nectarine, stone fruit, white peach and oak spice are accented with hints of vanilla, toasted nuts and a touch of butterscotch and light caramel with a subtle cinnamon spice undertone. This wine has the distinctive Sonoma-Cutrer balance between elegance and richness for a medium-bodied, mouth-filling wine. The creamy texture of this wine offers flavors of ripe pear and peach that is balanced with a nice, bright acidity. There is lots of finesse’ to the long, silky finish highlighted with long barrel spice notes.
The 2013 Terroir Unico Pinot Noir follows the idea of the Terroir Unico range, to show the pure expression of the grape and the place in a line of unoaked wines. This was 20-30% whole-cluster fermented and is very pale colored, almost a rose, very perfumed, with aromas of red fruit and flowers opening to a light to medium-bodied palate, high acidity (blood orange), and a pure, fresh finish. Highly drinkable. Can the price be real?
Winemaker's Notes: Deep ruby red in color with intriguing aromas of sun-warmed blackberries, ripe plums, with hints of black licorice. A complexity of dark berry fruits unfold on the palate; blackberries and bing cherries along with dark chocolate flavors. Vanilla and cedar oak undertones on the mid-palate further enhance the wine. The overall impression is rich with refined tannins, firm acidity and explosive layers of ripe fruit.
Winemaker's Notes: Bright crimson red in color. Aromas of black cherry and ripe plums combine with subtle notes of dried herbs and smoke. The palate entry shows flavors of cranberry, fresh raspberry, and ripe cherry, complemented by hints of vanilla and baking spice. A balance of savory, cedar and cocoa powder on one side, and sweet, fig jam and ripe blackberry on the other, round out the mouth-feel. The overall impression is one of ripe red and black berry fruit flavors, great structure, smooth tannins and a lingering fresh finish.
91+ Points, Robert Parker: The 2015 Malbec is very floral and bright mixing grapes from different zones in Mendoza, showcasing the grape in the province. The palate is very elegant, soft, with a fresh note that they tell me might come from some 5% Merlot from Tupungato that is used in the blend. Super!
91 Points, Habersham Tasting Panel | Winemaker's Notes: Features true aromas re ective of the Paso Robles earthy terrains; green bell pepper, barbeque seasoned steak and jammy, black plum. A medium-bodied wine with hints of blackberry and chocolate avors. Mouthfilling, smooth silky tannins add balance and structure with a lingering nish. Pair alongside garlic and spinach stuffed chicken meatballs or beef tenderloin with braised red cabbage.

A well balanced and pleasant wine on the palate with aromas of stewed fruits and hints of cinnamon and clove. Enjoyable fleshy texture and remarkable length. Russian River Valley, California | 100% Pinot Noir
93 Points, Wine Enthusiast: The producer's flagship wine, this is sourced from several Green Valley sites, including Amber Ridge and Manna. Both contribute a full-bodied wealth of packed-earth flavor in a generously layered, rich explosion of dark cherry, plum and pomegranate. Along the way, streaks of citrus and black tea provide exotic interludes.
95 Points, James Suckling: Ripe and intense aromas of strawberries and blackberries with hints of black ink. Savory notes, too. Full-bodied, chewy and focused with linear fruit and character. Very finely crafted. Drink or hold.
91 Points, Robert Parker: There is a smoky character that I believe comes from the skin of the grapes, which have a high impact from the sun—as with the higher altitude, the rays are much stronger and make grapes develop thicker skins. It made me think of a red from the Northern Rhône, mixing violets, bacon fat and great spiciness. They have replaced Cabernet by Tannat, and I think it has helped remove the herbal aromas and given more character to the blend. The palate is medium-bodied with great freshness and intensity, terribly tasty. This is so easy to drink, it can be dangerous... One to buy by the case, and great for by-the-glass.
93 Points, Robert Parker: Another realistically priced wine and a super value with its sweet cherry and raspberry fruit, allspice, subtle background oak and a medium to full body. It is a beautiful wine made mostly from Rochioli cuttings and a small amount of Joseph Swan clone.
91 Points, Habersham Tasting Panel | Winemaker's Notes: This wine is dry and fruity. Upon tasting we observe its clear and limpid character. It’s the taste of red fruit that dominates. It possesses a long finish, always lingering to the end upon one's palate.
Winemaker's Notes: Say hello to our latest crush. Don't let the pale pink fool you, this wine's only blushing from all the attention. Most bottles of Rosé are imported or created as small batch offerings, that means a premium price tag. Fortunately, Dark Horse winemaker, Beth Liston, decided to take summer by the grapes and create a fruit-forward, Provence-style Rosé that pairs perfectly with sunshine and backyard budgets.
Côtes de Provence, France | 82% Grenache, 9% Cinsault and 9% other select Provençal reds
90 Points, Habersham Tasting Panel | Winemaker's Notes: Intensely aromatic, the elegant lavender and violet floral notes of Fleur de Mer evoke the purple-dotted hillsides and romantic seaside villages of Provence. Ripe fruit notes of watermelon, cherry and raspberry highlight the refreshing, medium-bodied palate, while hints of citrus, rose petal and minerality add appealing complexity and crisp freshness. On the long and soft finish, flavors of ripe peach and succulent melon blend with the fresh herbal and floral notes of garrigue.
91 Points, Robert Parker: Another terrific value is the 2015 Tarima (Nonorganic) from Alicante and another 100% Mourvèdre cuvée, aged six months in French oak. This wine has terrific aromatics, broad, expansive flavors, about 15% natural alcohol and an expansive, heady mouthfeel. This is rich, dense and Provençal in its flavor components. Totally aged in used oak and stainless steel, the wine is a real sleeper and big-time winner in the values sweepstakes. Drink it over the next several years.
Winemaker's Notes: Our wine has exceptionally deep color with ripe blackberry, blueberry, vanilla and toasted oak on the nose. Spice and rich mocha flavors from the oak frame the bountiful tannins of this variety, and proved the structure to carry the fruit to a long but clean finish.
Winemaker's Notes: Our Pinot Noir shines with fragrant aromas of cranberry, cherry and spice that lead to a lush palate of ripe red fruit. Medium in body, Lucky Star Pinot Noir has a round mouthfeel, smooth tannins and a long, lingering finish.
92 Points, Habersham Tasting Panel | Winemaker's Notes: Medium deep opaque purple color with dark red rim. Initial aromas redolent of blackberry and blueberry with underlying hints of red fruits give way to pleasing complex elements of vanilla and toffee. Soft, big, yet elegant mouth feel, rich, full body, density, superb balance and grip, lead to a long finish, carrying intense ripe fruit and complex flavors. Soft, supple, dramatic, sexy wine with a compelling yummy factor that screams 'drink me.'
Winemaker's Notes: Lemon-green in color, aromas of Key limes and white peaches complement undertones of green apples and grains of paradise. On the palate, it is smooth and refreshing with a long, pleasant finish.
The Natural Sweet Range is made in its very own unique way by blending varietals to showcase fruity and fresh, floral flavours. This process leads to wine packed with natural sweet flavours that are low in alcohol and very quaffable. Serve well chilled.
93 Points, Josh Reynolds, International Wine Cellar | Winemaker's Notes: Released in April 2010, Savannah Verdelho is simply incredible, its bouquet exuding orange zest and buttery shortbread with hints of ginger, milk chocolate, and almonds. Lightly sweet with zesty acidity to keep it fresh, the palate reveals notes of candied citrus, ginger, and spicy honey. The finish sharpens all of the above into a refreshing and palate cleansing blend of spiciness and citrus sweetness.
92 Points, Robert Parker: Made from 100% Tinta de Toro aged ten months in French and American oak, the full-bodied, complex, dry 2012 Flor de Vetus offers up notes of Provencal herbs, white chocolate and jammy black cherry and blackcurrant fruit. This opulent, chewy, voluptuously textured red comes from high-elevation (2,100 feet) vineyards and represents a stunning value.
90 Points, Robert Parker: The 2015 Muscadet Sèvre et Maine sur lie Harmonie offers a very clear, elegant and pure bouquet of ripe pears with fresh citrus flavors. Full-flavored, juicy and full of minerals, this is a gorgeously pure and elegant but also sensual and stimulating Muscadet in perfect balance. The finish is pretty long, aromatic and structured, which is what makes this still primarily fruity wine highly attractive to be drunk young, although this Muscadet will gain even more complexity over the years.
90 Points, Habersham Tasting Panel | Winemaker's Notes: The Block Nine Pinot is beautifully long and rich in ripe cherry and berry flavors. The aromas exhibit generous bright fruit with a mix of strawberry, violets, plum, tea, and a hint of clove. Flavorful and silky in the mouth with good body, this wine is seductive showing wild cherries and a hint of sandalwood to complete its complex finish.
94 Points, Robert Parker: A super-sexy, seductive style of Cabernet Sauvignon, the 2013 Cabernet Sauvignon Double Lariat has sweet tannins, lush black cherry and a blackcurrant fruit, no hard edges and touches of chocolate and espresso in a complex, plump, plush style. This is irresistible wine and at this price point a no-brainer. Drink it over the next decade.
91 Points, Habersham Tasting Panel | Winemaker's Notes: It was here in the Pfalz region, back in the 19th century, that Pinot Gris was first identified as an individual variety and vinified separately. The modern-day Villa Wolf Pinot Gris is made in a full-bodied, dry style with fresh, unoaked fruit and a crisp texture. This wine is an excellent partner for salmon, chicken or pork.
92 Points, James Suckling; 91 Points, Habersham Tasting Panel: This shows tension and depth with sliced lemon and hints of ripe peach. Some cream and flan undertones. Full body, lightly oily and a flavorful finish. -JS
90 Points, Habersham Tasting Panel | Winemaker's Notes: This Pinot Noir’s charismatic aromas include red cherry, ripe strawberry, cola and spice. Flavors of plum and black cherry are completed by a soft mouthfeel. Supple tannins and a bit of acidity end in a beautifully balanced and clean finish.
Winemaker's Notes: A rich, dark garnet color in the glass with vibrant purple shimmer, this Merlot displays aromas of ripe plum, rich cocoa, blueberry and violet with hints of juicy black cherry. A luscious mouthfeel full of dark fruit, hints of sweet spice and restrained astringency lead into a delicious, lingering finish filled with toasty oak undertones.
90 Points, Habersham Tasting Panel: Merlot is like that ol’ pick-up truck of mine. Dependable. A real worker. Just jump in and start it up. It never lets me down. Oh sure it might not be fancy. But I can’t tell you how many times I’m glad I have it. And my friends are glad I have it too. It just makes my life easier. And isn’t that what it’s all about?
