97 Points/World Class, The Allstrom Brothers, Beer Advocate:
Soft powdery mouth feel with a crisp carbonation and medium body. Smooth. Very evident clove flavour up front and stays around throughout the beer. Hints of birch and ginger beer-like flavours, peppery medcinal phenols and light herbal tea hop flavour. Quite malty but it stays in the back. Fruitiness is likened to a delicate date sweetness and ripe plum. As the beer warms, there's also a suggestion of chocolate/carob. Finish dries a little though still a bit of residual sweetness leftover, herbal flavours also.

Brewer's Notes: This is our firstborn brew, whose accidental discovery started our story in 2003. Its originality also lies in its singular taste – notes of biscuity malt and vanilla swirling within a creamy, mellow character. A pioneering beer, its flavour finds favour with brewing juries, blind tasting panels and barflies alike.

Brewer's Notes: Kasteel Barista Chocolate Quad stands alone as one of the most decadent and elegant quadruples of Belgium. This 11% ABV beer pours a chestnut brown with an off-white head. A warming aroma of chocolate and coffee are countered by nuanced flavors of toffee and dried fruits. The mouthfeel is rich and silky like melted chocolate which truly rounds out the entire drinking experience. Considering the ABV and predominant flavors of chocolate and coffee this quadruple is unique, yet remarkably well balanced.

94 Points/Outstanding, The Allstrom Brothers, Beer Advocate: Appearance: Rich golden hue with a faint haze from the yeast, decent lacing but has trouble sticking.

Smell: Dry doughy cookie like aroma similar to a mild biscotti, some dried fruit also. Mild phenolic in the back with hints of anise and black pepper.

Taste: Crisp and lively, the carbonation is at a medium to high level and kneaded right into the light body. Spicy and peppery with an abundance of phenols and an underlying character of alcohol. Dry malt flavour with a mild fruitiness to complement it, hops are there with a bite and the yeast throws a nuttiness that lasts far into the finish. Fruitiness is a tad peachy but like dried peaches. Spiciness from the phenols and alcohol linger and clean the palate. Alcohol starts to become more of a presence as the beer warms with a faint solvent and flexed estery showing.

Notes: Spicy and quite flamboyant, that is just what I want in my Belgian Pale Strong Ale. Perhaps a little over the top but there is nothing wrong with that. Complex and flailing with wild flavors.

Lyric Ale is an ode to this profound beauty, which guides everything we do. We use a blend of hops from three continents and our house saison yeast to strike this harmonic balance of fruit and spice.

99th Percentile, Ratebeer.com | Brewer's Notes: Orval beer is a high fermentation beer. The ageing process adds a fruity note, which strikes a subtle balance between the beer's full-bodied yet complex flavour and bitterness.

Good to Know: The Orval Brewery's activities are governed by the wishes of the monastic community. Part of the revenue generated by the sale of its products goes to charity. This ethical dimension is one of the three criteria of the "Authentic Trappist Product" designation.

The Rochefort 8 has a more tawny colour and a more pronounced aroma, with an even richer fruitiness (a slight undertone of fig?) and a little more spiced dryness, like that of a cake, which gives a balanced finish to the final notes.

98th Percentile, Ratebeer.com; 97 Points, Wine Enthusiast; "World Classic," Michael Jackson | Brewer's Notes: Grand Cru by RODENBACH has on average been left for much longer in the oak casks ("folders") of the Roeselare "beer cathedral," which results in a more pronounced version of the "Flanders Red-Brown Beer" style. RODENBACH Grand Cru consists of 1/3 young beer and 2/3 beer matured two years in oak. The result is a complex beer with a great deal of wood and esters, vinous and with a very long aftertaste, just like a Grand Cru wine.

98th Percentile, Ratebeer.com; Best Beer in the World. Period., Men's Journal
Brewer's Notes: The Saison Dupont is a top fermentation beer with refermentation in the bottle. Since 1844, this beer has been brewed in our farm-brewery, during the winter time. Then this beer became a second refermentation in the barrel. During the next summer, this very thirst-quenching beer was served to the “saisoniers” which were working on the fields. Surely therefore, our Saison Dupont is considered as “the classic” among the Belgian season beers!

Coppery blond, the finest aromas and a strong bitterness transform this beer into a thirst-quenchener with no equal, just the way it was created. Our selection of yeasts is the perfect base for these typical aromas and ditto taste. A real refermentation in the bottle, which will continue for a long time in your cellar, result into this complex and particular aromatic beer.

    Fort Collins, Colorado

    The Craft American Beer Icon
After a trip to Europe, New Belgium’s co-founder returned to Colorado from Belgium with a handful of ingredients and an idea. Two years later, Fat Tire – named in honor of his inspired bike ride across the Belgian countryside – pedaled its way into the hearts of beer drinkers. Now considered an iconic centerpiece of the craft beer movement, Fat Tire represents the American spirit of craft brewing ingenuity and an irresistible imagination that reminds us all to rediscover our playful side.

Fat Tire’s unique flavor profile originates from the late 1930s, when local Belgian breweries aimed to satisfy the tastes of visiting British soldiers. English floral hops, subtle malt sweetness and spicy, fruity notes from Belgian yeast made for a balanced yet magical combination. These same characteristics are at the heart of Fat Tire. Classified as an Ameri-Belgo style ale by the revered Great American Beer Festival and World Beer Cup competitions, Fat Tire blends a fine malt presence, fresh herbal hop balance and a touch of fruity yeast to offer drinkers everywhere a timeless craft beer experience with a rare blend of balance and complexity.

    Collaboration (Stone/Dogfish/Victory)

    Dogfish Saison du Buff 355mL

    $2.49

This beer is collaboration between Dogfish Head, Stone Brewing Co. (Escondido, CA) and Victory Brewing Company (Downingtown, PA).

    Brewer's Notes
The idea for this beer germinated way back in 2003 when the three guys (Sam from Dogfish, Greg from Stone and Bill from Victory) formed the BUFF alliance (Brewers United for Freedom of Flavor) - a noble endeavor with the goal to highlight the passion and camaraderie of the American craft brew movement.

So, BUFF didn't really do anything (beyond talk a lot of talk) until 2010 when the three brewers finally got together to jointly brew at beer at the Stone Brewery. Saison du BUFF was first brewed at Stone and then replicated at each of the other two breweries - same recipe, same ingredients, three different breweries throughout 2010. The brewers have a repeat performance planned for 2012!

Saison du BUFF is a 6.8% ABV Saison brewed with parsley, sage, rosemary and thyme. The beer is brewed three times, once at each brewery using the same recipe. The expected release dates for each brew are as follows:

    Dogfish Head - 2014, 2017 release

    Victory Brewing - 2015 release

    Stone Brewing Co.- 2016 release

The beers, once released will be distributed by each brewery's distribution partners. Please check with each brewery about availabilty of their Saison du BUFF.

    Cheers.

Brewer's Notes: Think classic seafaring ports, local pubs and weathered old fishermen. This old ale is brewed with molasses and an insane focus on the malt bill, then oak-aged. The result is a rich, malty delight that’s deceptively smooth and drinkable.
